Christmas
Carols played by a brass band are part of a North East Christmas. Backworth Colliery Band plays carols outdoors at markets, outside shops and in shopping centres, and at community events, and gives festive concerts packed with seasonal favourites.
Over the years that has included the North Shields Victorian Christmas Market, carols at Forest Hall, and the launch of the Christmas ice rink at Newcastle’s Life Science Centre in 2024.
The band plays in Allendale on 15 December and at Carols at the Marina in North Shields on 19 December 2026. See all the dates on our events page.
Nine or ten players suit carols at markets and in shopping centres; the full band suits festive concerts and bigger outdoor events. December is a busy month for brass bands, so get in touch early and we will check the players’ availability.
Every booking is priced individually, depending on the event, the location, the music and the number of players. The band is amateur and self-funding, so every fee goes back into instruments, music and the Training Band. Tell us about your event through the enquiry form and we will come back to you with a quote.
